To some people this post will not make sense. To others it will be dead on.
I grew up in the 50s and 60s. As I look back it seems a lot better back then. Even when my very first job only paid 50 cents an hour. Yes I know today that don’t sound like much. But back then you could buy a nice house for around 2000.00 dollars and a brand new car was less than a thousand dollars. Now days the least you will make is 7 dollars and twenty-five cents an hour and can not even think about renting a place to live.
As our pay went up so did the cost of living. The problem is that the cost of living went up a lot more than our pay. Sure times seemed hard back then. But life was much better. Every one had a job and most everyone had a place to live. As my grandfather use to say. If you don’t work you don’t eat. Now days it seems like no body want to work and everyone want the working man to give them what they want.
As for me I do not see colors I see people. Even today you can be anything you want to be and have all the things you want or need if you are willing to work for it.
But to do that you start as a child when you first start school. You study hard and make good grades and finish school. A good education means everything. Then when you get a job. No it may not be the job you want but you give that job everything and you keep learning so you can move up. You work hard and you never give up. As an old saying goes cheaters never win and winners never cheat. But here we are going to change it a little. Quiters never win and winners never quites. But that is the choice that you have to make. So think about it. Are you a winner or are you a quitter?
I believe that each and everyone of us wants to think we are winners. At least deep down we do. All I can say is to stand strong and work hard to be the person that you want to be. Violence is not the answer. As my old grandmam used to say violence begets more violence.
I hope and pray that this makes sense to some of you out there.
